WE Rock's Western Series Round 3 is a two-day pro and amateur rock-crawling competition at Moon Rocks OHV Area outside Reno, Nevada, run as a night event starting at 6 p.m. both days. Drivers navigate extreme rock obstacles through timed gates, and the lowest score for cone strikes and backups wins. The event draws multiple vehicle classes and is part of WE Rock's national point series, presented by Maxxis Tires. Off-road vendors, food, and restrooms are on site; spectators are encouraged to bring chairs.

Adventure Van Expo's Bozeman stop runs August 15-16, 2026 at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds in Montana. The two-day show features open-house tours of custom van builds, a DIY buildout contest, live music, food trucks, and on-site camping.

The Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion is a three-day Jeep show held each August at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The event combines indoor and outdoor vendor areas with on-site installations, a Show & Shine competition, and trophy awards. Organized by the Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Club, it has run annually since 2013.

The Whitewater Overland Rally is a three-day overland event run by 207 Overland at Three Rivers Whitewater in West Forks, Maine. The 2026 edition runs August 21-23 and combines riverside camping with included whitewater rafting on the Kennebec, river tubing, hiking, a rig show, axe throwing, and meals. Registration is $288 per person.

Overland Expo Mountain West is a large overlanding event in Loveland, Colorado, that features several days of vendor exhibits, demonstrations, classes, and community activities. The organizers host other versions of the expo in Arizona, Oregon, and Virginia. The three-day event has a packed schedule. You can spend a couple of days just perusing the gear expo booths and outfitted vehicles on display. At night there is a charity raffle where you can win overlanding and off-roading gear.

National Park Week

National Park Week is the National Park Service's annual weeklong celebration, running August 22 to 30 in 2026 under the theme "Celebrate America's Story" for the nation's 250th anniversary. Parks across the country add ranger programs, Junior Ranger activities, and events through the week. Entrance fees are waived for U.S. citizens and residents on August 25, the Park Service's 110th birthday, which falls inside the week; other fees still apply.

On August 25, every national park that charges an entrance fee waives it for the day, one of a handful of fee-free days the National Park Service sets each year. The date marks the agency's founding: the Organic Act created the National Park Service on August 25, 1916, which makes 2026 its 110th birthday. The waiver covers entrance fees only, and for 2026 it applies to U.S. citizens and residents; timed-entry and reservation fees, camping, and tours are still charged.

The High Sierra Poker Run is a four-day off-road event held each September near Shaver Lake, California. Organized by the California Four Wheel Drive Association, it includes six trail-rig runs and two side-by-side runs across trails like Swamp Lake, Bald Mountain, Mirror Lake, Brewer Lake, and Coyote Lake, plus a poker run, raffle, dinner, and camping. Some of these trails have hosted the event for over thirty years.

Labor Day Safari is a three-day guided trail-ride event hosted by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers in Moab, Utah, over Labor Day weekend. Total registration is capped at 150 vehicles, with each individual trail limited to 25, drawn from a roster of 19 designated 4×4 routes across the Moab area. The club bills it as the cooler-weather, smaller-crowds counterpart to its larger Easter Jeep Safari, with most participants camping at nearby Camp Moab.

WE Rock's Grand Nationals is the season-ending pro and amateur rock-crawling championship, held at Chokecherry Canyon in Farmington, New Mexico. Big Iron Overland Rally is a 3-day weekend overlanding and concert experience at the Big Brutus Historic Landmark in West Mineral, Kansas. The event includes a vendor expo, live music, vehicle awards, and a self-guided tour of Big Brutus, a massive power shovel. **About Big Brutus** Big Brutus is the nickname of the Bucyrus-Erie model 1850-B electric shovel, which was the second largest of its type in operation in the 1960s and 1970s. Big Brutus is the centerpiece of a mining museum in West Mineral, Kansas where it was used in coal strip mining operations. The shovel was designed to dig from 20 to 69 feet (6.1 to 21.0 m) down to unearth relatively shallow coal seams, which would themselves be mined with smaller equipment.

Copperstate Overland is an on-road and off-road driving event tailored for vintage off-road vehicles. Modeled after the Copperstate 1000 vintage car rally, this event provides a fully supported, catered driving experience. The 2024 event is scheduled to take place from October 12 to October 16. The route covers various locations across Arizona, including its deserts, rugged terrains, and mountain roads, and may extend beyond state lines. Participants engage in a four-day driving adventure, with all logistical details handled by the event's staff. Each year, a new route is chosen to showcase the state's diverse landscapes. Eligibility is limited to vehicles from the year 1979 or earlier, although exceptional vehicles manufactured after 1979 may be considered. All entries are subject to the same admission standards. The three-day event runs four-wheel-drive trails ranging from SUV-accessible routes to Category 5 technical lines, with a Friday night run departing at 6 p.m. and full-day runs Saturday and Sunday. Base camp is near the end of Wheeler Road on BLM land; onsite registration is $80 and includes a dash plaque, raffle ticket, and trail pennant. No side-by-sides, quads, or motorcycles.

The Winter 4x4 Jamboree is a four-day off-road event held each January out of the Washington County Fairgrounds in Hurricane, Utah. Guided trail runs of varying difficulty depart the fairgrounds each morning, paired with a vendor show, a show-and-shine, raffle drawings, and a closing BBQ and auction. It is organized by the Desert Roads and Trails Society and draws 4x4 owners to the red-rock trails around Hurricane and Sand Hollow.

King of the Hammers is an off-road racing event held each winter on the dry lakebed of Johnson Valley, California. Run by Hammerking Productions, it pairs high-speed desert racing with technical rock crawling across eight competitive classes, headlined by the Race of Kings. For the run of the event, competitors and spectators occupy a temporary encampment known as Hammertown. KOH began in 2007 with 12 teams and now draws hundreds of entrants over a two-week schedule.

The Truck Camper Adventure Quartzsite Rally is scheduled to take place from February 14-18, 2024. This truck camper event, hosted by [Truck Camper Adventure](https://www.truckcamperadventure.com/dates-for-2024-truck-camper-adventure-quartzsite-rally-now-set/), is set to be the largest gathering of truck camper enthusiasts in America. Attendees can expect an educational experience focused on safety and care of public lands. The rally will feature a diverse itinerary consisting of workshops, classes, contests, live music, a sponsored raffle, campfire socials, vendors, and a truck camper "open house." The full itinerary will be posted on the Truck Camper Adventure website in September. The Truck Camper Adventure Quartzsite Rally is exclusively for individuals who own hard-side or pop-up truck campers, as well as those with truck toppers, camper shells, and chassis-mounted campers. The event encourages participation from owners of classic truck campers and DIY campers. Located at the Roadrunner Wash BLM Area, approximately 6 miles south of Quartzsite, Arizona, the rally offers a boondocking experience with no hookups or amenities available. Portable toilets will be provided near the main tent area, but attendees are expected to pack in and pack out their belongings. Registration for the rally requires a fee of $25.00 per truck camper, allowing admission for up to six family members. Attendees are requested to provide the names of all adult participants during registration for personalized name badges. Refunds and cancellations will not be issued after February 1, 2024. The Salt Lake Off-Road & Outdoor Expo is a two-day consumer show held each March at the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy, Utah. It brings together off-road vehicle vendors, gear retailers, and outdoor recreation businesses, with product demonstrations, stage entertainment, and prize drawings across the weekend. The expo is run by Off-Road & Outdoor Enterprises, which also produces the Boise Off-Road & Outdoor Expo, and reaches its twelfth year in 2027.
