The Appalachian Trail Days Festival takes over Damascus, Virginia, a trail town the Appalachian Trail runs straight through, for a weekend built around the footpath and the people walking it. The festival draws roughly 25,000 people for a hiker parade, more than 100 vendors, live music and trail programs, and it doubles as the year's largest thru-hiker reunion. Admission is free, and camping at Tent City is paid by the night.
