Winnebago Revel 1st Gen

The Revel is Winnebago's four-wheel-drive camper van, in production since 2018 and built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter AWD chassis. It is a Class B motorhome, which means the living space is contained entirely within the van body. At 19 feet 7 inches long it sleeps two and runs a Mercedes 2.0-liter turbodiesel rated 211 horsepower, paired with a 9-speed automatic.

The Revel's defining feature is the rear power lift bed. A full-width mattress rides on electric actuators above the rear cargo area, so the back third of the van converts between a sleeping platform and a tall gear garage for bikes, skis, or boards. The other defining choice is what the Revel leaves out. It carries no propane. Cooking is handled by an induction cooktop, heat by a diesel-fired hydronic system, and the electrical load by a large lithium battery bank, which is the layout most modern adventure vans have since adopted. The compromises are a compact wet bath and a minimal galley, and the current AWD Sprinter no longer offers the low-range transfer case the earlier Revel had.

Electrical capacity is the headline number. The Revel pairs a Winnebago-branded EcoFlow power system with a Lithionics lithium battery rated up to 16.8 kWh, recharged by the engine alternators and roof solar. Fresh water capacity is 35 gallons, and the van has a wet bath, an induction galley, a refrigerator, hydronic heat, and air conditioning. Two floorplans are offered, the 44E and the 44EC.

The Revel competes with Sprinter-based conversions from Storyteller Overland, Outside Van, and other upfitters, along with Winnebago's own larger Ekko. When it launched in 2018 it was one of the first four-wheel-drive adventure vans offered by a mainstream RV manufacturer rather than a custom shop.
